Denver Police Introduce 24/7 Naloxone Vending Machines to Combat Opioid Crisis


The Denver Police Department has launched an initiative to combat the opioid epidemic by installing naloxone vending machines outside three police stations. These machines, available 24/7 and designed like newspaper boxes, provide free access to naloxone, a medication that can quickly reverse opioid overdoses.


This program, created in partnership with The Naloxone Project, founded by Dr. Don Stader, aims to increase the availability of life-saving resources while reducing stigma around substance use. The machines are located at:

DPD District 2 Station (3921 N. Holly St.)

DPD District 6 Station (1566 N. Washington St.)

DPD Police Administration Building (1331 Cherokee St.)

Each machine holds up to 75 kits and is regularly restocked. DPD selected these locations based on local overdose data, underscoring the department's commitment to providing accessible public health resources.
